Biggie IrieWith a voice like rich molasses and a commanding stage presence Biggie Irie’s career started in 1986, with a reggae group called Exodus. Barbadians perhaps best know him as a founding member of The Splash Band whose repertoire was dedicated solely to reggae music. Since the release of his single “Nah Goin Home” for Crop Over 2006, Biggie has and continues to enjoy resounding success at all major carnivals. This song was also remixed for the road in Trinidad featuring Maximus Dan, and created history, as he was the first ever non-national to win the "International Groovy Soca Monarch Competition” held in Trinidad in February 2007. This track has taken Biggie throughout the Caribbean, major US cities, Canada and England. Sunday 2 September 2007, was the pinnacle of Biggie’s Irie’s career, he escalated to the highest level in the soca arena, at the 5th Annual International Soca Awards; the most prestigious event in the soca recording industry. “Nah Goin’ Home” captured the “Soca Song of the Year”.
