Nikisha Reyes- Pile: New Talent For 2010.Posted: 30th Dec 2009 Nikisha Reyes-Pile is only 21 years old, born in Trinidad into a musical family it was inevitable that she too would find her love for music. Nikisha began singing at the young age of five, she then went onto writing her first Calypso song at the age of eleven, entering the song into a contest and gaining a respectable 3rd place at her very first competition.
Nikesha then moved to the UK at the age of 13, where she continued to pursue her love of music. She was encouraged by her school to broaden her musical gift to embrace all genres of music, It's at that point Nikisha began training in classical music techniques to expand her vocal range and repertoire. In 2002 and 2003, Nikisha was accepted into the Hackney Empire’s Artist Development Program, where she honed her skills writing original songs. In 2004, and within a singing group with her friends, she entered the UK Unsigned competition. Their song was an original blend of UK Garage, Hip Hop, Soca and Reggae, and earned them the First Place trophy for the schools category. More recently, Nikisha entered the Project Talent UK competition, and made it to the final 12 out of 10,000 talented applicants.
In June 2009, Nikisha met Jah Mirikle. A UK reggae artist whom has an interest in a Soca collaboration. Nikisha then went onto recording “Roll My Bumpa” with Jah Mirkle. Nikisha then went onto record “One Dance” produced by SocaChild. This has launched her career so far where she has performed the hit release at various functions including various Awards Shows, events and fetes. She has also been nominated for several Soca Awards. Nikisha is now concentrating on working with the likes of SocaChild, Scrappy, Jah Mirikle and TriniBoi Joocie, to produce some new material for Carnival 2010. Written By: Nadia Auckburally
