Controversial Reggae Singer Gets Grammy NominationPosted: 4th Dec 2009 Through out the years Buju Banton has been criticized for his homophobic lyrics and this year gay activists have targeted his concerts in order to prevent him from performing. But Jamaican reggae singer over came all the controversy to win himself a 2009 Grammy nomination. Nominations for the 52nd Annual GRAMMY Awards were announced by The Recording Academy where Buju Banton won himself a Grammy Nomination in the Best Reggae Album category with his Rasta Got Soul album, which is on his Gargamel Music, Inc. label. This will be Buju’s fourth nomination so far in his career. Also making the reggae nomination list this year is singer, Gregory Issacs for his `Brand New Me` album as well as Sean Paul for `Imperial Blaze,` Stephen Marley for `Mind Control — Acoustic` and Julian Marley for `Awake.` Written By: Nadia Auckburally
