No Awards For Soca At MOBO's 2009Posted: 28th Sep 2009 The MOBO Awards have come around once again and this time it will be taking place in Glasgow and will be held at the SECC on Wednesday 30th September 2009. This year's show will see some of the world's biggest stars descend on the Scottish city.
The Music of Black Origin (MOBO) Awards was established in 1995 by Kanya King MBE and Andy Ruffell are held annually in the United Kingdom to recognise artists of any race or nationality performing black music.
The list of nominations includes awards for the Best African Act, Best Jazz Act, Best Gospel Act and Best Reggae Act. But why is there still no award for Best Soca Act at the MOBO's?
Soca is black music and more importantly it's a genre of music that celebrates, represents and unites the islands of the Caribbean.
The MOBO Awards 2009 will be shown live on BBC3 at 9.30pm.
