Soca NewsPosted: 17th Sep 2009 Skinny Fabulous was recently named the new King of Soca in St Vincent and the Grenadines with his hit song Leggo de Beast. He is also currently achieving success in several Caribbean charts with the same single. Skinny Fabulous was also crowned Vincy Soca Monach for the second time in a row at Victoria Park in St Vincent, he beat Fireman Hooper who cane in second and Problem Child who came 3rd. Machel Montano recently launched his new album Heavenly Drum, the album features collaborations with Collie Buddz, Busy Signal, Chinese Laundry, Umi Marcano, and Len Boogsie Sharpe. He gained single success with Wild Antz which won him third place in Road march competition while another track, Magic Drumz, played by the Phase 2 Steel Orchestra, came second in the "Large Bands" category at the Panorama Finals Steel Pan competition at Trinidad and Tobago Carnival. Nadia Batson has something new in store for the ladies, she revealed her new Soca anthem entitled ‘Keep Wining’. Which looks like it is set to keep soca lovers wining in the pre carnival season build up in Trinidad and Tobago. It would appear that Batson is taking soca music to another level taking it from the old to the new with tracks like Caribbean Girl, My Posse, One Island and now, Keep Wining. The international soca award are to be held on Friday 30th October 2009 and this year Turks and Caicos Islands are hosting it. After six successful years in New York, One year in Trinidad and one year in St Kitts. Organisers are promising this years awards to be the biggest yet, the ceremony is to ultimately showcase Soca Music in way that it has never been done before.
