Gran Carnival Costume SplashPosted: 20th Aug 2009 Gran Carnival Costume Splash is one of the various events taking place this upcoming August bank holiday weekend. It previews Europe’s largest festival of cultural arts. It demonstrates the art of Mas bands and costume making and provides two days of Carnival celebrations combining costumes, Calypso, Steel Pans, Caribbean cuisines and an arts and craft market. The Gran Carnival Costume Splash will be taking place in Alexandra Palace on Saturday 22nd August from 3pm – 10pm hosting the Kings and Queens Pre carnival costume show and on the Sunday 23rd August from 12pm – 7pm Children’s day; which is a pre carnival kid’s costume display. All costumes will be featured in the elaborate parade which will take place at the forthcoming Notting Hill Carnival. Although you can see the costumes at Carnival, their weight means that they often can not be carried all the way around the long route. Therefore only at this event will you truly be able to see the individual costumes parade in their full glory. If you fancy getting up close and having a sneak peak at all these costumes, mask making, the latest dance moves, getting involved with interactive workshops and a whole lot more this is the place to be. Gran Carnival Costume splash is a fun event for the whole family. Prizes will also be awarded across various age groups for best King of Carnival, Best Queen of Carnival, Best male costume and best female costume. The splash begins at 3pm Saturday 22nd August 2009 and again on Sunday 23rd August 2009 from 12 noon. Located at Great Hall, Alexandra Palace, Alexandra Palace Way, Wood Green, N22 7AY
